Acorn Music - Yeovil
At Acorn Music in Yeovil we will be opening at 8am on Record Store Day and we will be serving hot drinks and other refreshments to those in the queue from around 7am.
We have planned a great selection of live music throughout the day by some very talented artists from the South West. Despite my best efforts I have been unable to get Jack White to actually play at Acorn on Record Store Day but we will have some rather good alternatives. Lucas will be in his customary spot serenading the early arrivals at 8am. If all goes according to plan he will be followed by new boy Ollie Clayton, the very talented Hollie Trevis, Design (who plan to do three gigs in three places on the day), Follow The Sun (Wendy in the local sweet shop's favourite), the much loved Mutter "Stackridge" Slater, Dan "No Closure" Hamilton doing his solo thing, Railhogs (not doing a solo thing), Dub Liberators (who knows what they'll be doing with ukuleles), and, of course, it wouldn't be RSD in Yeovil without The Animal Urges getting our shopping precinct dancing in the afternoon.
As usual we will have a fine selection of free cakes on offer and this year we have come up with some Acorn Music Record Store Day 2013 commemorative mugs which we will be giving away to the first twenty five paying customers on the day.
We're keeping our fingers crossed for some nice weather and we hope to recreate the celebratory atmosphere we have generated in previous years. We also hope to sell lots of records, win some new customers, make some new friends and we'll do our best to ensure that everyone enjoys the time they spend with us.
Audio Gold - London
Audio Gold are having a free turntable surgery in the shop on RSD, with their best man on hand to offer help and advice and carry out minor surgery there and then for free (parts will be charged of course). Larger/longer issues we will book jobs in for later.
They’ll also be full of all sorts of vinyl accessories for the day, again to focus on the fact that vinyl is at its brilliant best when ones turntable has had a little love.
The record store itself will be plumped out with several collections we've been holding back and some guest stalls from collectors/dealers and of course RSD releases.
We always keep bins of good records that we sell at £1 a piece in aid of Gilles Petersons Steve Reid Foundation, which is a tributary of the Musicians Benevolent Fund. We'll be plumping them out too, so there'll be bundles of bargains to be had.
